Multiple Tooth Implant
Encinitas, CA

Multiple Tooth Implant mold in Encinitas, CA at Encinitas Periodontics & Dental ImplantsDid you know that there are millions of people who have lost at least one tooth? Over one-third of all American adults have lost at least one permanent tooth during the course of their lifetimes. Many people can stand to lose one tooth, especially if the tooth is towards the back. For example, if you lose a wisdom tooth, it is not that big of a deal, because many researchers believe that your wisdom teeth are just an extra piece of hardware.

But what happens if you lose additional teeth? This presents a much bigger problem. If you are missing multiple teeth, you may not smile at all. You may find it hard to eat your favorite foods. You may not want to laugh in public, because you are worried everyone will see the gaps in your mouth. If you have lost multiple teeth, Encinitas Periodontics & Dental Implants can help. Keep reading for information on multiple tooth implants.

Why Do I Need A Multiple Tooth Implant?

There are a lot of reasons you might need a multiple tooth implant. Sometimes, you may just need to get a multiple tooth implant because you need to do more to look your best. You may need a multiple tooth implant because you are having a lot of trouble chewing your food. Maybe you are in pain - either in your jaw or in your remaining teeth - because they have shifted. Maybe you’ve decided to get implants because you need to be sure that you are practicing good oral hygiene.

Perhaps the most important reason a lot of people get multiple tooth implants is because they need to keep their remaining teeth healthy, as well as their jawbone. When you lose a lot of teeth, your jawbone may begin to take bone away. Over time, this could change the shape of your jaw or even your face. All because you have missing teeth.

What Happens During a Multiple Tooth Implant?

If you need a multiple tooth implant, we need to check the area where we are going to do the tooth implant to make sure you don’t have any problems. We need to make sure that the area is clear of issues, such as pieces of tooth, tooth roots, an infection or inflamed gums. If your gum tissue is infected, we will need to treat it and wait for it to heal.

After we know that your gum area is clear, we will drill holes into your jawbone to place screws. The screws attach your implant tooth through your gums and into your jawbone, mimicking your natural tooth. After we place the screws in your jawbone, we have to give your tissues time to heal. Once your tissues heal, we place prosthetic teeth on top of the screws.

Implants are amazing. Once we place your prosthetic teeth, no one will know that you have prosthetic teeth, except you. Your implant teeth will look and function just like your natural teeth used to, which means that you can smile widely, eat whatever you want, and laugh - a lot. Best of all, your jaw will continue to function the way it is supposed to. Do you have any questions? We’d be thrilled to answer them!
